Itinerary:

Day One- Arrive to Tulum-check into hotel. Say Hello. Spend the afternoon however you wish. Just remember that we have an EARLY wake-up call!

Day Two- State #1 Quintana Roo -Explore the magical Sian Ka’an Biosphere, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with 1.3 million acres of flora and fauna to discover. Ocean, lagoon and jungle birds participating in nature’s orchestra.

Day Three-State #2 Yucatan -Witness the winged beauties of Ria Celestún Biosphere Reserve, protected wetlands, estuaries & mangroves or the lungs of the planet. Many unique species in this ecosystem…. hello flamingos!

Day Four- State #3 Campeche- Arrive Calakmul. Morning off. Breathe in nature. Relax. Afternoon bird talk and walk near our hotel.

Day Five- Campeche-Reserva de la Biósfera Calakmul- Experience the ancient Mayan city and second largest tropical forest in the Americas. Hundreds of bird species are attracted the old, healthy forests of the reserve… for food, for refuge and our viewing pleasure!

Day Six-Travel home with memories that will last long after your holiday (and a very long, successful birding checklist!).

We will travel on water, on land, through ancient Maya sites of yesterday and the Maya communities of today. We will bird watch in the 3 states of the Yucatan Peninsula. Rising early to spend the mornings with the birdies, and driving the afternoons to the next birders paradise. Our goal is to see 325+ species of birds over the 6 days, are you up for the challenge? We are! It’s the heart of winter migration season, our chances will be at the highest. We are focused on our feathered friends however, the biodiversity of the 3 different ecosystems attracts 1000’s of other species of flora and fauna to enjoy along the way.

Included:

  • Comfortable passenger van transportation for the week (from/to airport based on groups flight times)

  • 5 nights Lodging- very nice to excellent quality
