A Green Maya Sacred Union Ceremony is an alternative to the old school, traditional wedding ceremonies with long, boring sermons full of religious references in one of God’s many visually boring homes (unless it’s being held in Westminster Abbey 🏰).
At Green Maya, we believe LOVE and NATURE are “GOD”.
We have zero judgment, discrimination or religious requirements in Green Maya ceremonies. We welcome each of your unique stories, all ethnicities, all backgrounds, all ages, all sexual orientations… WE ARE ONE.
Sexual equality is also very important, not many people are down with archaic wedding vows such as “to obey” or “death do us part”. We are all about the balance of goddess and warrior energies in our ceremonies. #equality
Green Maya union ceremonies are a great option for couples who want less stress on their special day, or aren’t keen on spending $100k USD on ONE exhausting day. (That’s like 3 years of travel!) Union ceremonies are also a good option for grown-ups with exes and kids (uummm been there, done that!).
green maya: our ceremonies are guided by nature, spirit, Maya culture, and wisdom that has been passed down through many generations from the elders of native tribes from around the world.
Each ceremony will be personalized and include a reflective altar. The altar is an important component of any ceremony. It holds the offerings, the prayers, the gifts and the intentions of the ceremony. We build gorgeous altars using seeds of the four colors that represent the four directions. We use flowers, water, fire, honey, ancient Maya plants and medicinal herbs, music instruments for the ceremony, and our extensive personal collection of sacred pieces. We encourage all guests to bring a special piece(s) that speaks to them personally to charge on the altar of love and wonderful intentions during the ceremony. It can be a photo, stone, crystal, good luck charm, jewelry, instrument, poem/letter, piece of faith, food/drink, anything that can brought to ceremony and has a special meaning.
We speak with you prior to the ceremony to learn what is most important to you. What is your unique story? The planning starts there. During the ceremony you can expect to share, receive and connect with each other, with nature, with yourself, and with your guests.
To close the ceremony we all share a toast with balché, the Maya ceremonial drink that is made from a tree bark and melipona honey 🐝. After a few days of fermenting, you can guess what happens…. the deity affiliated with this drink is named Acan, the God of the wine and intoxication 🍷 CHEERS! (we have non alcoholic balche as well)
And as a gift from us to you, we offer a potted Ceiba tree (Tree of Life for the Maya) to the altar in honor of your celebrated union. After the tree has been blessed by your ceremony and the well wishes from your loved ones, we will plant the Ceiba tree on our land in the Riviera Maya jungle. We will commemorate with your names and date of the union, then you can come to visit your tree of love whenever you want.
No tux required, bare feet on the earth, and guided by Jorge a Maya spirit guide (shaman apprentice) …..
