Sunrise Bird Watching Experience
All-inclusive Day Experience: Pick-up times vary slightly due to the time of sunrise (6:00 am, return time 1:00 pm)
From amateur to an expert: guided bird watching and flora discovery experience
In this experience, you will walk the shores of the Gulf of México, canoe through the mangrove forests of the Biosphere Reserves, and trek the Yucatán jungles in search of our feathered friends! You will also observe and discuss other fauna and the flora that you will see along the way.
Yucatán México is a paradise for bird lovers, with over 350 species! (including seven endemics)
If you think, “eh, bird watching, it’s not really for me,” ….. we recommend that you think twice and give it a try! The act of bird watching has similar effects as meditation. This experience is a great way to get outside early in the morning when the air is crisp and the only sounds you hear come from nature.
The Biosphere Reserves are a combination of coastal scrub, estuary, and mangrove forests. Together, they provide excellent habitats for many species of wildlife. We are lucky; we receive migratory birds year-round. They fly from the North and South of the equator, depending on the times of local winters. The birdies, like us, enjoy the warmer weather.
Some species that you can expect to see: American flamingo, Spoonbill, Kingfisher, Great Egret, Snowy Egret, Reddish Egret, Great Blue Heron, Little Blue Heron, Boat-billed Heron, Bare-throated Tiger-Heron, Pygmy Kingfisher, White and Brown Pelicans, and many endemics such as the Mexican Sheartail, Yucatan Woodpecker, Yucatan Gnat Catcher, Yucatan Wren, Yucatan Bobwhite, Yucatan Flycatcher, Orange Oriole, Yucatan Jay …and many more.
