Amazon Indigenous Women Earth Protectors

Women of all ages are making environmental waves across the planet. This is a photo of Nemonte Nenquimo and some women from her Amazonian tribe. Find and follow her on social media for more in-depth content on what they are doing and how you can help to protect the Amazon Rainforest. 🙏🏻💚 The following 6 women are personal heroes that have inspired my journey.

Jane Goodall

Jane has a recognizable name because she has been a voice for primates since she was 23 years old; she’s now 86. In 1977 she started the Jane Goodall Institution, now in 30 countries, to raise awareness and protect the chimpanzees and their habitats. In doing so, the entire natural world has benefited from her conservation efforts. She is considered one of the most impactful women scientists of the 20th century. Love me some Jane, and come on, how sweet is her face?!

She’s really freaking smart and has a way with words that help us laypeople understand the actual cost of capitalism and what it means for us, the people and the natural world.

Jane Fonda

Jane does not need much of an introduction; she is an international movie star. She has also been an activist since her youth. Most recently, she was inspired by Greta Thunberg 👇🏻 and worked with Annie Leonard 👆🏻 and Green Peace USA to start Fire Drill Fridays, capital hill protests demanding climate action from our elected officials. She has been arrested many times for civil disobedience. You can read all about her experience and how you can help in her book, What Can I do?

This young lady is way beyond her almost 18 years. She started the international youth environmental movement. Read more about Greta’s story here. On days that I want to give up and run away to the mountains and live off the land. I watch this video, and it gives me the strength to keep working for our future generations. Her speech makes me cry my face-off, but that’s ok; sometimes you need a good cry.
